Swiss Major set for scenic showdown in Märstetten

Europe’s top canine-athlete duos are heading to northeastern Switzerland this month for the Swiss Major, a key stop on the UFO World Cup Tour that promises tight competition, high energy, and flawless organization — all set against the picturesque backdrop of Märstetten. Held at the club grounds of organizer Jasmin Keller, this year's edition continues a tradition that began in 2012 in Winterthur before moving to its current home in 2018. “It’s the perfect venue,” Keller says. “We train here, the ground holds up in any weather, and everything’s on site — camping, kitchen, shower, toilets.” Smooth is a fitting word — but so is serious. With 55 teams already confirmed and “some very exciting teams” in the mix, competition promises to be fierce. Keller and co-organizer Andreas are expecting standout performances across divisions, particularly as the event lands near the end of the European summer circuit. This is the last Major before the European Cup Finals. A 15-strong volunteer crew will keep things running behind the scenes, backed by event sponsors Vitakraft and Swiss Nature. Judging will be in the hands of Marcel Buff, Julia Zimmermann, and Vanessa Lieber — a respected trio familiar with both the sport’s technical expectations and its infectious energy. Preparations for the event began last September, ensuring that everything from field layout to food service meets the high standards Swiss teams (and visitors from across Europe) have come to expect. With a loyal community, seasoned organizers, and top-level talent descending on Märstetten, the Swiss Major is shaping up to be one of the defining events of the 2025 season. — The UFO
