Marina and Oreo are crowned the 2024 World Cup Champions!

Beautiful Bremen Germany served as the host city for the 2024 World Cup Finals, and it was an amazing weekend.

Teams from all over Europe and the USA made the trip to find out once again, who the top frisbee dog in the universe might be. Pretty tall order, but there were a LOT of contenders for the honor.

Friday saw the final Major and DTour qualifiers take place. Entries were limited to only unqualified teams. In the Open division, Michaela Andrová with Gin from the Czech republic took the win.
Julia Reineke & Remmidemmi were our top FS team, with Andre Scherer & Joy took the T&C win.
In the beginner class, Sabrina Kempf & Loki were our top combined team, and Tanja Scherer & Joy won the Beginner T&C.
In the DTour qualifiers, in a blast from the past, our top Men's team was Timo Kehlbeck with Imani. The Women's side saw it's first Bulgarian win, with Darya Ivantsova & Reya taking the win in front of a raucous crowd!

This set the stage for the weekend. The organizing crew was very busy running 2 fields, managing a food tent and merchandise sales. Great vendors were on hand to support the event. Patrick and Lina Engelkin and their DogFrisbee-Bremen club did an outstanding job creating a fantastic environment where one could see a most amazing performance for the dogs.

The sun shone all weekend, and the wind had other things on its mind.

Sunday, when the event finally closed, we eagerly awaited the podium calls. Here is how they went.
In the Women's DTour, former DTour champion Jean McCollister from Slovenia pulled into 3rd place with a 45.6 meter throw and catch by Kori. In second, a 51.3 meter catch by Bebe put Carlotta Salzano from Italy on the podium. And our 2024 World Cup DTour Women's Champions are Darya Ivantsova with Reya, Bulgaria! A 55.3 meter catch is what it took!

The Men's division had teams from 5 countries throwing for the championship. The price for a podium spot was 58.5 Meters, and Miha Gasperin with Viggo were prepared! they stood on 3rd place. In second place, host country Germany got in on the action with a 71.3 meter catch by Bacardi, thrown by Timo Kehlbeck! Timo was previously the 2012 UFO European Champion. He's back to throw big! And he managed to throw even bigger, as he also threw 74.8 meters to a borrowed Swiss dog named Imani, owned by Jasmin Keller. This was the distance it took to earn the 2024 World Cup DTour Men's Championship!

In the World Cup Finals, there were 3 titles on the line. Freestyle, Throw & Catch, and the Combined "Overall" World Cup title. In freestyle, teams needed a top 3 finish in Freestyle at a Major to qualify for this particular championship. The Podium looked like this:
3-Kirby McIlveen & Sora (USA)
2-Guido Averesch & Phoebe (Germany)
and the Freestyle Championship went to.....
JULIA ZIMMERMAN WITH MINAI! After 2 rounds of Freestyle, only 1.1 points separated Minai from Phoebe. A close win, but a championship title attached to it.

In the T&C Championship, the teams did 4 rounds to determine their champion. There were 45 teams there, with a heavy presence of the Spanish teams, who excel at Throw & Catch.
The top 3 were:
3-Augusti Catalan with Stark (Spain)
2-Bettina Koch with Scoville (Germany)
And the T&C Championship ends up going home to SPAIN, with Juanjo Pascual putting up 71 points with his dog Mia for the 2024 title! This total included 2 ridiculous 21 point rounds. do the math. That means a minimum of 6 catches to earn that many points. Simply out of this world.

The final championship still stood. 53 teams were on hand to see if they could take it. At the end, the podium was dominated by women and a clear winner among them.
In 3rd, hailing from the Czech Republic, Michaela Androva with Džus!!
In 2nd, from Germany we had Julia Zimmerman with Minai!!
Finally, pulling together some absolutely stunning FS rounds combined with a very solid 17 point T&C round, the World Cup title will once again go to Italy, and its most amazing ambassador, Marina Fangareggi with Oreo!!!
Marina has been on the podium twice before, and now finally claims the top spot!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Again, our thanks to the host and the vendors and sponsors and crew that made this possible, and the great teams from around the world willing to come to Germany to show us their most incredibly talented furry friends!!!
